The Game


‘ 0. The Zero'th law of thermodynamics.
You must play the game. (There is inhererent equilibrium in the balance between systems)…’


In his descriptions of the laws of thermodynamics, British scientist C.P. Snow uses the term` the game` as a metaphor for the conditions applied to the movement of energy. Inspired by these enigmatic descriptions I have used a simple contemporary version of the children’s game `fuzzy felt`, to investigate the effects of interaction and movement in a social context.

`The Game` examines the multitude of possibilities involved in a systemic mark making process. As many players as possible are encouraged to participate in visual compilation, stimulated by their own creative abilities and local influences. The individual pictures are then joined into an animation. `The Game` explores concepts of unity and interconnection that are essential to my practice.
